Ancient halls of Valhalla

January 9, 2019 No Comments

The Pantheon made the only decision they could rightfully make when they chose to imprison the Old Gods. The death of Y’shaarj proved that trying to remove the others would only further endanger and possibly kill Azeroth’s world-soul — and that was the last thing the Titans wanted. But in imprisoning the Old Gods, the Titans inadvertently changed the course of evolution on Azeroth for good.

The Curse of Flesh

Although the Well of Eternity was essentially a wound, it was also a blessing to the creatures that roamed Azeroth’s surface. The mysterious, potent energies radiating from the Well fostered and hastened growth and evolution across the world. The titan-forged left behind to tend to the world helped shape and foster that life, but they weren’t immune from evolution themselves.

When the Pantheon was slain by Sargeras, Norgannon cast a spell that sent their spirits, and the last of their powers, to Azeroth. There, they inhabited the keepers that watched over the prisons of the Old Gods. Their arrival caused a great disturbance in the keepers, who didn’t realize what had happened. Yogg Saron took advantage of the disturbance, weakening his jailers and making an escape. From there, the Old God tainted the Forge of Wills with the Curse of Flesh.

This is the 1st Column. The modern idea of a restaurant – as well as the term itself – appeared in Paris in the 18th century.[2] For centuries Paris had taverns which served food at large common tables, but they were notoriously crowded, noisy, not very clean, and served food of dubious quality – not very good at all. The main competitor to the Michelin guide in Europe is the guidebook series published by Gault Millau. Unlike the Michelin guide which takes the restaurant décor and service into consideration with its rating, Gault Millau only judges the quality of the food. Its ratings are on a scale of 1 to 20, with 20 being the highest.
This is the 2nd Column. In about 1765 a new kind of eating establishment, called a “Bouillon”, was opened on rue des Poulies, near the Louvre, by a man named Boulanger. It had separate tables, a menu, and specialized in soups made with a base of meat and eggs, which were said to be restaurants or, in English “restoratives”. Other similar bouillons soon opened around Paris.  Thanks to Boulanger and his imitators, these soups moved from the category of remedy into the category of health food and ultimately into the category of ordinary food….their existence was predicated on health, not gustatory, requirements.

Restaurant guides review restaurants, often ranking them or providing information to guide consumers (type of food, handicap accessibility, facilities, etc.). One of the most famous contemporary guides is the Michelin series of guides which accord from 1 to 3 stars to restaurants they perceive to be of high culinary merit. Restaurants with stars in the Michelin guide are formal, very expensive establishments.

This is the best restaurant I have ever visited. Great location and great food. The only minor downside are the prices which are pretty high but I guess quality comes with the price. - John Barbista

Sailing under the moonlight

The name Windrunner is a well-known one on Azeroth. Sylvanas is easily the most recognized. After all, she was Ranger-General of Silvermoon, then leader of the Forsaken, and now leader of the entire Horde. Her younger sister Vereesa built a name for herself as well, though not quite as prominent. Vereesa avoided Kael’thas’ teachings and the fel that stained the eyes of her kin. Eventually, she founded the Silver Covenant, serving as its Ranger-General and leading those High Elves that remained uncorrupted and loyal to the Alliance.

The third Windrunner sister may not have been as influential in matters of present-day, but her name lingered on in her absence. Who, after all, could forget Alleria Windrunner, when her statue flanks the very gates of Stormwind? But though anyone entering the city would know her name, few people know the real Alleria.

Farstrider

As the eldest of the Windrunner sisters, one might have expected Alleria to do more with her life. She was supposed to inherit her mother’s role as Silvermoon’s Ranger-General, but she didn’t take it. Instead, she turned away from expectation and tradition, joining the Farstriders and leaving the position to her younger sister, Sylvanas. Her name and status among her people mattered little to her. Protecting those people was far more important.
